• Beveled Gasket
Lead-free design is suitable for all no-lead potable water installations, in full compliance of all lead-free plumbing laws.
CTS pack-joint end connections provide the maximum pullout resistance against internal pressure variations and backfilling stress.
Designed and manufactured for the repair of, or new underground water service applications only.
Insert stiffeners are required at each pack-joint connection, when installing Polyethylene (PE) plastic tubing.
FEATURES:
1) The product has the letters “NL” cast into the main body for lead-free indentification.
2) Body and nuts provide wrench flats for installation.
3) Body provides internal tube stops.
4) 300PSI working pressure
5) Not suitable for steam applications
6) The body that comes in contact with potable water confirms to AWWA Standard C800 (ASTM B584, UNS C89833)
MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCATION
- 1) Make sure pipe/tubing is round. On
copper tubing, use a rounding tool. Remove
burrs. Clean or scrape off any dirt of corrosion so
the surface is smooth.
- 2) The tubing should be inserted into the fitting so the end of tubing is well past the rubber seal gasket. If the nut or socket appears too large for pipe, make sure the correct fitting and pipe are of proper diameter.
- 3) Tighten PACK JOINT nut 1 to 1-1/2 rotations after gasket starts to compress. Do not use a pipe wrench. If clamp screw is not accessible, reposition by further tightening PACK JOINT nut.
- 4) To ensure against blowout of pipe, tighten the clamp screw very securely. A socket or box end wrench is preferable to a screwdriver. Avoid overtightening. Clamp ends are not designed to touch.
- 5) Pressure test for leaks before backfilling.
- 6) Backfill under and around the fitting, connection and service line to prevent ground shifts and leakage.
7) Consult pipe or tubing manufacturer for specific installation requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: When faced with different types of rubber seals, which do you choose?
A: If there is only one type of O-ring available, is it the right choice? Sadly, one size does not fit all. Each rubber type has is strengths and weaknesses which dictate where a seal can or can't be used.
EPDM Sealing Element:
The EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) sealing element is used in applications like potable water, process water, hydronic heating, fire sprinkler and compressed air.It has an operating temperature from 0°F to 250°F (-18°C to 120°C)
NBR Sealing Element:
The NBR ( Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) sealing element is well suited for applications that include propane diesel and fuel oil, as well as other various industrial gases. Its operating temperature is from -40°F to 180°F (-40°C to 82°C)
