EDTA is a white crystalline powder, melting point 240 ℃ (decomposition), solubility in water is 0.5g/l (25 ℃), insoluble in general organic solvents, soluble in 160 parts of boiling water, soluble in alkaline solutions such as sodium hydroxide, etc., showing the tendency to remove hydroxyl at 150 ℃.
Purpose:
EDTA is widely used as a representative chelating agent. It can be used as bleaching fixative, dyeing aid, fiber treatment aid, cosmetics additive, blood anticoagulant, detergent, stabilizer, synthetic rubber polymerization initiator for the processing of color sensitive materials. It is an important complexing agent, which can form stable aqueous complexes with alkali metals, rare earth elements and transition elements. Widely used in polymer chemical industry, daily chemical industry, paper industry, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, textile printing and dyeing industry, photographic chemicals, oilfield chemicals, water treatment agents, boiler cleaning agents and analytical reagents. In addition, EDTA can also be used to rapidly excrete harmful radioactive metals from the human body to detoxify them. It is also a water treatment agent. EDTA is also an important indicator, but it can be used to titrate nickel, copper, etc. when it is used, it should be used together with ammonia water to play the role of indicator.
