From the supplier
Hexylamine is colorless to yellow liquid and has a fishy smell. Colorless and combustible, n-hexylamine is soluble in alcohol and ether and only weakly soluble in water.
Organic syntheses make use of n-hexylamine. 1-Hexylamine is utilized as a surfactant, emulsifier, and corrosion inhibitor. The pharmaceutical, rubber, and dye industries all use it. Alkanethlol monolayer modification in gas-phase surface reactions is another application for it. In the ring opening polymerization of N-carboxyanhydride, it serves as an initiator. It’s toxic by skin absorption, inhalation, and ingestion. flammable, with a moderate risk of fire.
