Exdura Marcomb is an innovative top creation among our non-stick coatings. Marcomb is a siliconized PTFE high molecular anti-adherent coating which is made in a honeycomb structure. Sol-gel technology coatings have good initial release. However, they all rely on siloxane chemistry for their nonstick properties, which is less durable than PTFE. Therefore, to improve ceramic coatings’ long-term non-stick release performance, ETAC developed MarComb, a ceramic coating that has PTFE added to the sol-gel mixture. With general ceramic coatings the silicone provides the non-stick release; but with MarComb, the silicone has an extra function: it acts as a binder between the PTFE and ceramic. This ensures the coating is tightly bonded together for excellent non-stick release and resistance to abrasion and heat. To use another analogy, the touch ceramic ’sol-gel’ coating of MarComb is like a beehive, with the same simple job: to protect the PTFE(the honey) inside the coating.
Moreover, in order to make these ’beehives’ more stable and more tightly bound together within the coating, they are arranged in a honeycomb structure. This arrangement means MarComb has extremely good abrasion resistance.
