From the supplier
Quinoa, scientifically known as Chenopodium quinoa, is a highly nutritious pseudocereal.
It does not belong to the grass family like wheat and rice; instead, it is in the amaranth family, the same as spinach and beets. It has gained worldwide popularity for its edible seeds used as a staple food, and is hailed as a "superfood" and the "mother of grains".
I. Origin and Distribution
Origin: Native to the Andes Mountains in South America, including Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and other regions, quinoa has a cultivation history of more than 7,000 years and served as the staple food of the ancient Inca civilization.
Producing areas in China: Mainly planted in high-altitude and cool-climate regions such as Qinghai, Gansu, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia.
II. Core Nutritional Traits (Perfect Nutritious Food)
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has recognized it as the only single plant that can independently meet the basic nutritional needs of the human body.
High-Quality Complete Protein
The protein content ranges from 14% to 22%, comparable to that of beef. It contains all 9 essential amino acids with an ideal ratio, and is particularly rich in lysine, which is commonly deficient in cereals.Gluten-Free
Free of gluten protein found in wheat, it is an ideal and safe staple food for people with gluten allergies and celiac disease.Low Sugar and High Fiber (Ideal for Sugar Control and Fat Loss)
With a low glycemic index (GI ≈ 35) and rich dietary fiber (about 7%), it delivers strong satiety, suitable for people losing weight and controlling blood sugar.Abundant Trace Elements
Rich in iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, B vitamins, vitamin E and flavonoids such as quercetin, with strong antioxidant properties. III. Common Varieties and Texture It is mainly classified into white, red and black varieties with similar nutrition but different textures:- White quinoa: The most common type, soft and fragrant, easily accepted, suitable for porridge and steamed rice.
- Red/Black quinoa: With thicker seed coats, chewy in texture, higher in dietary fiber and anthocyanins, and more attractive in appearance.
- Boost immunity: High-quality protein and amino acids support physical functions.
- Control blood sugar and reduce fat: Low GI and high fiber slow down blood sugar rise, and it is more filling than refined rice and flour.
- Protect cardiovascular system: Rich in unsaturated fatty acids and flavonoids, helping regulate blood pressure, resist inflammation and oxidation.
- Protect eyesight and beautify skin: Rich in vitamin E and iron, improving anemia and resisting oxidation and aging.
Steaming (Staple Food)
Ratio: quinoa : water = 1 : 2 Steps: soak for 30 minutes → rinse → cook with water for about 15 minutes → simmer for 5 minutes. Small white germs will emerge after cooking, with distinct grains.Salad (Fat-Loss Meal)
After being cooked and cooled, mix with avocados, vegetables, chicken breast, nuts, and drizzle with vinaigrette.Porridge / Soup Making
Cook porridge with rice and millet, or add to sparerib soup and chicken soup to enhance nutrition.Baking
Grind into powder or add whole grains to bread, biscuits and pancakes to improve nutritional density. VI. Purchase and Storage Purchase: Select plump, dry, non-caking grains free of borers. Storage: Store in a sealed container in a cool and dry place, or refrigerate to prevent oxidative deteriorationAbout the supplier
