Product overview
Lithium Battery Expansion Force Pressure Sensor is designed for accurate identification of the problem of abnormal bulging of battery cells during the entire charging and discharging process.
With the booming development of the new energy industry, lithium-ion batteries are gradually moving towards higher energy density and longer cycle life. Accurately characterizing the degree of expansion of batteries at different time points during charging and discharging is a major challenge for material and battery manufacturers. The huge volume change caused by expansion leads to stress accumulation inside the electrode, causing electrode pulverization and reducing the cycling performance and safety of the battery. On the other hand, the volume change also requires the SEI film of the negative electrode to be repeatedly formed, resulting in the loss of active lithium sources and the decrease of the first coulomb efficiency.
Traditional methods such as load sensors, ten thousand feet, and laser thickness gauges cannot accurately and real-time reflect the degree of battery expansion during charging and discharging. HIT has proposed a solution for sensing and detecting the expansion force using flexible electronic thin film pressure sensors and data collectors, which enables real-time and accurate identification of the problem of abnormal bulging of battery cells during the entire charging and discharging process. The solution also detects areas of abnormal pressure in the battery cells during the charging and discharging process. Through testing data, R&D personnel can further improve the battery cell problems; enhance the practicality and safety of the battery.
In response to the expansion caused by the deformation of lithium atoms during the charging and discharging process of batteries, the HIT flexible sensing team has achieved the detection of pressure changes on the surface of battery cells during the charging and discharging process through the research of flexible electronic thin film pressure sensors. The lithium battery expansion force pressure monitoring sensor can display the contact pressure of the sensor in the form of two-dimensional or three-dimensional color pressure distribution images, record the entire force process, automatically analyze the pressure distribution data in real time, and export it for secondary data analysis or development.
The flexible electronic thin film pressure sensor system is mainly divided into hardware, software, and sensor parts. All parts are customized and modularized for use. Lithium Battery Expansion Force Pressure Sensor contains a grid like semiconductor substrate inside, and these interwoven substrates form the most basic sensing element of the sensor. The resistance value of the sensing element will change correspondingly after the load pressure is applied. After being subjected to pressure, the resistance of the sensor material will change. Through rapid electronic scanning, the resistance data of each sensing element can be measured, and through the calibration function of the software, the magnitude, time, and position of the force and pressure acting on the sensor can be obtained.
