The current edger motor configuration parameters are: 5.5KW (single unit) and 132KW (one set of 12 groups/24 edger wheel motors), with a daily working time of about 16 hours. In actual operation, there are problems with the asynchronous motor used in the edging machine:

① The efficiency of asynchronous motors is low, resulting in serious energy waste.

② The speed of the asynchronous motor is limited, which leads to increased abrasive consumption. At the same time, due to the large current impact during start-up and operation, the motor is prone to failure and damage.

③ When an asynchronous motor is running at a fixed speed of power frequency, the energy conversion efficiency is not high and there is significant room for optimization. This operating mode is not conducive to achieving efficient use of energy and is contrary to the requirements of modern industrial production for energy conservation and consumption reduction.

transformation strategy

1) Adopt high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors

High-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors are used to significantly improve the working efficiency of the motor; the efficiency of the permanent magnet synchronous motors equipped with the edging machine not only meets the Level 1 standard of GB30253- 2024 "Energy Efficiency Limits and Energy Efficiency Levels for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors", but also compares with asynchronous motors of the same specification, it shows excellent performance advantages. The motor has a self-starting function, and its efficiency is significantly better than that of an asynchronous motor in a wide load range of 25%-120%. It has a wider economic operating range and significant energy-saving effects.Compared with YE3 high-efficiency motors, energy efficiency is improved by 3%-5%; compared with Y series ordinary asynchronous motors, energy efficiency is improved by 10%-15%, and power saving rate reaches 15%-35%。

The mechanical characteristics of permanent magnet synchronous motors are harder, and the output torque is stable and reliable. Especially when operating at low speeds, they can still maintain a high efficiency of more than 98%; the power factor is ≥ 0.98, which effectively reduces reactive power losses. The motor has extremely low iron and copper losses, and the use of Class F insulating material ensures the durability and reliability of the motor. The protection level of the shell reaches IP55 and is suitable for a variety of working environments. The cooling system can be water-cooled or air-cooled to effectively reduce the motor temperature rise. Under normal rated load, the motor temperature rise does not exceed 80 ° C, which further proves the significant advantages of permanent magnet synchronous motors compared with asynchronous motors in terms of performance and efficiency.

2) Increase motor speed and enhance motor working efficiency

Increase the speed of the motor, enhance the working efficiency of the motor, effectively reduce the wear of grinding heads, and solve the problems of motor sticking and overheating. The use of permanent magnet synchronous motors has faster response speed and higher operating stability compared with asynchronous motors, which not only improves work efficiency, but also significantly reduces damage to the grinding head and failure rate during motor operation.

3) Through high-precision servo control system

Through a high-precision servo control system, our company has developed a permanent magnet synchronous motor servo controller dedicated to the edge grinding machine according to the media motion characteristics of the edge grinding machine. This controller is an energy-saving product specially designed for permanent magnet synchronous motors. It achieves precise control of constant torque and is more precise and intelligent than traditional control methods. It not only improves the working efficiency of the edger, but also due to the high efficiency and good speed regulation performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, compared with the asynchronous motor, it can greatly reduce the impact of current fluctuations on the power grid, further reflecting the advantages of the permanent magnet motor in terms of energy conservation and stability.
