Aerial insulated cable is a type of power cable designed for overhead outdoor installation. It features an insulation layer and a protective sheath to prevent short circuits, leakage, and environmental damage. The conductor is typically made of aluminum or copper, while the insulation material is usually weather-resistant cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC), offering excellent UV resistance, high/low-temperature tolerance (-40℃ to 90℃), and corrosion resistance.

Primarily used in urban distribution networks, rural grid upgrades, and temporary power supply lines, aerial insulated cables are safer than bare conductors, reducing the risk of short circuits caused by contact with trees and lowering installation and maintenance costs. Common voltage ratings include 1kV, 10kV, and 35kV, with configurations available in single-core and multi-core designs. Some models incorporate a load-bearing steel core for enhanced mechanical strength.

These cables comply with national standards such as GB/T 12527 and GB/T 14049, making them suitable for long-distance power transmission in complex environments.
